Long Weekend

So, Matt and I had a long weekend due to the fact that I asked Friday and Saturday off for Pastor Anthony's 50th birthday party! Happy Birthday PA!!!

My camera died quite soon.... I did get some pictures of the decorations though, which I will post as soon as I get home. (I'm still in South Berwick, but I'm leaving at 10am tomorrow to get to work by 12). Yes, I have to work on labor day. No, my class was moved to Tuesday. I know, sucky. Waste of my gas!

Hmm... I made some 4 cheese pizza and lasagna. I don't really cook at home, and I guess I missed it after staying home two weekends in a row.

I know I'm missing something, but I've still got to post those pictures, so hopefully I'll remember by then!

Etch a Sketch Thursday: Week 11

This is the picture I had trouble with the paint with. It has it's quirks for sure, but I'm OK with that. P.S. It's not as blue in real life.

Friend Weekend

This wasn't posed, I swear!

This one really wasn't posed, lol.

Margaritas! The picture came like that, unedited.

So once again, I had Chelsea, Karen, Michelle and Matt all over at my house for the weekend. I worked Saturday night, but only for a few hours. We swam, painted, watched movies, and ate. A lot. Oh, and as you can see, we went a little camera crazy!

Etch a Sketch Thursday: Week 10

Alright, I know I missed week 9, and you all better be happy blog readers because I stayed up like an hour past when I wanted to in order to finish this picture on Thursday!

I'm never doing citrus again. It was a pain in the butt, and bottom line, I didn't enjoy doing it. Maybe that's why it took me two weeks, and I just basically improvised and made messy lines and it's definitely not quality work. The droplets were fine though, I think I might experiment more with water in the future.

Enjoy, and be expecting 2 pictures in the near future!

Love me? Buy me!

Date Day

I haven't mentioned this on the blog yet, but I've been really on the edge the past few days because I was under the impression I wasn't going to see Matt this weekend because he seems to have contracted pneumonia. Well, he was feeling better, and I had the brilliant idea to meet in Portland since I was going to be there for my Monday night class anyway.

We walked the mall a little bit, checked out some cell phones, and then went to walk around the bay. We got like 3/4 of a mile and turned around (we were both hungry) and so we walked about 1 1/2 miles in all, and then we picnic-ed (pictured above).

After the picnic we went to Panera bread, got some drinks, and watched "I Am Legend" on my laptop! We spent our last moments together at the mall again. I must say, it's been a long time since we've had a "date" and it was nice I think, even though it was way short compared to the amount of time we usually spend together on the weekend, we made it count ;).

P.S. This is also my last week for 2/3 of my summer classes, so there's a lot of testing going on, and my manager always seems to know when I'm testing so he makes up all the hours he didn't give me during the slow season during finals! I've scheduled time to at least finish one picture for Thursday (I'm gonna try and do 2 one week to make up for what I missed) but be patient with me! I need to sleep sometime!

Etch a Sketch... When?!

Hey,

I started a picture with every intention of getting it done by Thursday, but basically work and school and the paint wasn't working the way I wanted to . I started a new one, but it's still nowhere near finished, so I'm skipping this week. Sorry, all!

Beautiful Disaster

She loves her mama's lemonade,
Hates the sound that goodbyes make.
She prays one day she'll find someone to need her.
She swears that there's no difference,
Between the lies and compliments.
It's all the same if everybody leaves her.

And every magazine tells her she's not good enough,
The pictures that she sees make her cry.

And she would change everything, everything just ask her.
Caught in the in between, a beautiful disaster,
And she just needs someone to take her home.

She's giving boys what they want, tries to act so nonchalant,
Afraid they'll see that she's lost her direction.
She never stays the same for long,
Assuming that she'll get it wrong.
Perfect only in her imperfections.

She's not a drama queen,
She doesn't want to feel this way, only seventeen but tired

She would change everything for happy ever after.
Caught in the in between, a beautiful disaster,
But she just needs someone to take her home.

Cuz she's just the way she is, but no ones told her that's ok.

And she would change everything, everything just ask her.
Caught in the in between of beautiful disaster,

And she would change everything for happy ever after.
Caught in the in between of beautiful disaster,

But she just needs someone to take her home
And she just needs someone to take her home.

Africa Sandals

Alright, it's time for another Soulfest story!!

The sandals pictured above are from Soulfest. WorldVision was giving them out to the crowd in exchange for prayer; everytime you wear these sandals, you are to pray for the children in Africa, particularly for those affected by the AIDS virus which is rampant there. If you wear the sandals and don't pray, your feet will break out in boils. Somehow, throughout the course of the weekend, all 5 of us managed to get a pair that was thrown out into the crowd. (All during the last day actually I think...)

Not much at all.

Matt and I did just about nothing this weekend. I loved it. I was still a little behind on rest since Soulfest (yes, it was a vacation from work and school, but it did not involve a lot of restful sleep and relaxation, mostly full-paced fun!) Saturday we did go to the beach with Matt's family, but that was a pretty short trip. I spend a lot of the rest of the day cooking and watching the Olympics. Sunday was the same. We made a chocolate cream pie.

Food I made:
Calzones
Chicken Parmesan
Blueberry Muffins
Chocolate Cream Pie

Ahh, to do nothing... :-D

Soulfest Story!

Alright, so about halfway through Stellar Karts performance, it started to sprinkle a little bit. The lead singer seemed to think this was unfair that the audience was getting wet while they were dry under the stage, so he sent out the bassist (pictured above) as an ambassador. He ran all the way to the back of the standing area (while still playing his bass) and made his way through the crowd saying "Hey, hello there, how's it goin?" Just as our groups attention turned back towards the stage where the other band members remained, the crowd around us started to get a little louder... And the bassist runs right into Matt, and basically tramples the Meesh! He finishes by strumming every string on the bass, and gets back on the stage, claiming he now knows everyone :).

Cool Picture

After begging and adding sugar on top x1000, I finally got him to pose for this picture! I think it came out great!
Click to enlarge his eyes, they're really cool looking!

So True

You were home-schooled?!I saw this comic on someone else's blog, and thought it was so true. People used to tell my mom she was making a big mistake and that I wouldn't have a social life. In truth, when I was in private school I had no social life. Once I was home-schooled I got to hang out with my home-schooled friends more often, because we were often done with our homework faster. With a little push in middle school, I was a social butterfly. I know if I had stayed in public school my whole life I would not be who I am today. . . I would be just another face in the crowd.

Etch a Sketch Thursday: Week 8

My first painting (acrylic)! I have to say, I think it came out better than my pastel picture. The original was completely black and white except for the iris, which is why the skin looks so gray (I was hoping it would look like it was meant to be black and white, but I'm not so sure.) The blue colored area was very hard and I'm not satisfied with the detail... I think blue is one of the harder colors to manipulate with paint. I may try a full facial painting in black and white for next week!

SoulFest!

Alright, so there is no possible way that I can Talk about everything that happened at soulfest in one post, so I'm going to give a brief overview today with some of the best pictures taken. Later on I will post a link to all of the pictures as well as tell stories about some specific pictures.

Day 1:
Bands Listened to: -Well known song of theirs:
Arise
Unspoken
Ten Shekel Shirt -Something about the Ocean
Jars of Clay God -Will Lift Up Your Head
TobyMac -Made to Love

The first day was very interesting, and this is also when we decided that this year would be a lot of learning... Learning so we knew how to do it better the next day and our next trip! We got there super early (someone didn't read the directions, but that's classified information) but the nice people still got us to our campsite without too much delay.
We didn't have any trouble setting up the tents, which was nice. We hung out at the campsite for a while, but it was like 100degrees so we decided to check out this lake that we were told we could swim in. It smelled gross, like dead fishies, but the boys still went in. I saw some crayfish, which brought me back to my childhood because I used to catch them all the time; so that's what we did. We caught like 2 maybe, and we got a makeshift cup to put them in. After about 5 minutes of standing still catching crayfish, they all started attacking my feet! I had like literally 7 mini crayfish on my feet nibbling or pinching my feet, and it really tickled. Then, the mommy's came out. They were literally 2 inches long, I FREAKED and jumped out of the water cause that thing was coming for my little piggies! So, no more crayfish catching, but we did watch them... and lo and behold the MOMMY OF THE MOMMIES came out! That thing looked like a lobster! It was freaky and the boys were no longer swimming in the lake/pond at that point!
Ok, so then we went back to watch some music at the Revival (the main) stage. I'm not sure where the boys were at that point... Or Bekah for that matter, but Meesh and I were watching Unspoken and I'm watching people go up the ski-lift to the Mountaintop Stage and see the most unusual sight: a 6 year old boy was hanging from one of the chairs! Like by his hands!! He was holding on to the bar, hanging there, when the ski lift stopped and a crowd formed underneath him. That kid was strong, he probably was holding on there for like at least a full minute, when the EMT's started arriving and people were starting to become proactive about the situation, and he dropped into the arms of the crowd. He was fine; he walked away.
At this point, the ice in the cooler was melting fast to the girls went to Hannaford to buy some ice. We were late getting back from Jars of Clay and basically lost the boys in the crowd. Then there was something else I lost; my keys. At night. In a crowd of 500 people. In long, unmowed grass. With limited flashlights. Luckily, someone turned them into security and they were safe and waiting for me!
TobyMac was AWESOME! Probably my favorite performance all weekend, the whole concert was choreographed, and he did a great job of getting the crowd into the music!

Day 2:
Bands we Heard: -Popular Song:
Tenth Avenue North -Love is Here
John Reuben -Nuisance w/Matt Theissen of Relient K
Phil Joel -God is Watching Over You
SuperChick[K] -We Live/Stand in the Rain
Kutless Strong -Tower/I Am Complete

Alright, so by Thursday we were havin' none of this sitting up on the hill thing, we were all about front row center. For 12 hours straight. For the next three days (my feet are still killing me). John Reuben has instilled a newfound love of Rap in me. His band was stuck at the airport and so he was singing solo, but I think it is because of that that I find him so interesting; he was great at improvising. He couldn't sing Nuisance by himself, (he doesn't actually sing the chorus) but he sang the verses a Capella for us and let US sing the chorus for him! He kept us all on track though ;).
Just after John Reuben, there was this massive downpour! It only lasted maybe 1o minutes, but boy when it comes down, it comes down! (in the group picture above, you can see how drenched Matt got!). Fortunately there was hardly any lightening so we managed to get our spot back very quickly after the rain stopped (we also had some spare clothes and blankets in the car which helped). We went without our cell phones for the rest of the night, for fear of losing them to the wetness, but couldn't part with our cameras, which did survive. Unfortunately, because of the rain the Superchick concert was cut a little short.
Now my second favorite performance of the week: Kutless. As you know, Matt, Jason and I went to see Kutless earlier this year, but it was totally different, as they were on their accoustic tour before. John Micah, the lead singer kept looking toward our group (the craziest in the crowd) and made and held eye contact with me for at least three times.
I also bought a little hand pin.

Day 3:
Bands we Saw: -Popular Song:
The Wrecking -(Local band)
Maeve -(Local Band)
DecembeRadio -Dangerous
KJ52 -KJ52
Matt Maher
Pheobe Henry-(Local)
BarlowGirl -Never Alone
Newsboys -I Am Free

Today was once again a really really hot day! Matt and I got our souvenirs; soulfest t-shirts! The bands were OK today, but I once again loved the rap!! KJ52 was awesome! If you watch the 52television, we were right there, although you can't make out our faces. Unfortunately, after waiting 8 hours, we were pushed out of the front row during the BarlowGirl concert, which was awesome! I love BarlowGirl!!
Also, Matt missed Fireflight because he was told they were cancelled, because their flight was delayed (They still played, just a little later)

Day 4:
Bands we Saw: -Popular song:
Siloam
Bethany Dillon -All I Need
Stellar Kart -Life is Good (Eternal Life is Better)
Sam Philips and the Section Quartet
Rebecca St.James -Do I even need
Third Day -to list one?

By today, we were all exhausted! We took shifts holding our spots in line, only to lose them once it started with rain and lightening shortly after Sam Philips. Unfortunately, this cut Rebecca St. James down to 2 songs, but Third Day was still a full concert. We did manage to make it back to the second and third row off to the right of the stage by the time Third Day was playing, so we were all content. I took over 300 pictures, and am still trying to recover from sleeping in a tent for 4 days!

Will probably post more interesting stories later!!
